Art Keeper Privacy Policy
Effective: October 2026
The short version
- Art Keeper never sends your art to us. Your child's art, photos, voice and video stories, names and birthdays stay on your device, and in your device's own backup if you use one, unless you choose to share them.
- No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics. Art Keeper has no sign-in and no advertising, and it doesn't contain analytics or crash-reporting tools.
- We don't sell or share personal information. We don't have yours to sell.
- If you email us, we receive what you send, and we use it only to help you.
1. Who we are
Art Keeper is made by Jason Sanio, an individual developer in Washington State, USA ("we", "us"). Contact: support@artkeeper.app.
2. What Art Keeper keeps on your device
To do its job, Art Keeper stores these things in its own storage on your iPhone or iPad:
- scans and photos of art and schoolwork, including the original photo and a cleaned-up copy;
- voice and video recordings of your child telling a piece's story;
- your children's names, the color you picked for each, and, if you add them, their birthdays and a photo of each child;
- titles, notes and dates for each piece;
- your settings, and the date and version of the terms you agreed to.
This information never leaves your device by itself. We can't see it, and we don't receive it. Art Keeper uses it on your device only, for example to sort pieces by child and age, show birthdays and milestones on the home screen, and clean up a scan.
3. Permissions Art Keeper asks for
| Permission | Used for | If you say no |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Scanning art, taking a child's photo, recording video stories | You can still import photos. |
| Microphone | Recording voice and video stories | Stories can't be recorded. |
| Photos | Importing pictures of art you've already taken | You can still scan with the camera. |
You can change these at any time in your device's Settings > Art Keeper. Art Keeper doesn't ask for your location or your contacts.
4. What we do receive
Nothing from the app itself. We only receive information in these cases, all started by you or by Apple:
- When you email us (for example from Settings > Contact support), your email app sends us your email address and whatever you write or attach. We use it only to answer you and fix problems.
- When you visit artkeeper.app, the services that host our website and this page may record your IP address and basic request details for security. Our website has no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- Apple gives app makers summary statistics about downloads and sales. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple also gives us crash reports and usage statistics that don't identify you. Apple collects these under Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours. We use them only to make Art Keeper better.
5. When you share, print or export
When you tap Share, Print at home or Export everything, Art Keeper opens your device's share sheet, and you pick where it goes (for example Messages, Mail, Files, a printer or another app). Art Keeper doesn't send anything to us when you do this. A shared piece includes a short caption you can see first, such as "Blast off" by Norah. Kept with Art Keeper: artkeeper.app. By default the caption shows only your child's first name. Their age is added only if you turn it on. After you share, the app you chose and the people you shared with control the copy they receive.
6. Backups
If your device backs up to iCloud or to a computer, that backup can include Art Keeper's content. Backups are made by your device and stored under your own Apple Account or on your own computer. We can't access them. Apple's terms and privacy policy cover iCloud.
7. Keeping and deleting
- On your device, you're in control. When you delete a piece or a child, it disappears from Art Keeper straight away. Its pictures and recordings stay in Art Keeper's storage on your device until you delete the app.
- Deleting the Art Keeper app removes everything Art Keeper keeps on that device. Copies in older device backups stay until those backups are replaced or deleted. You control that in your device settings.
- Emails to support: we keep them while we're helping you, and delete them no later than 12 months after our last message with you, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. To have them deleted sooner, email us.
8. Children's privacy
Art Keeper is made for parents and guardians, not for children to use on their own. It's about your children, so it holds things like their names, birthdays, pictures and voices. All of that stays on your device. We don't collect it.
The US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) covers personal information that apps and websites collect from children under 13. Art Keeper doesn't send any personal information about you or your child to us or to anyone else. So we don't collect personal information from children.
If a child under 13 emails us, we'll use the message only to reply to a parent if needed, and then delete it. If you think your child has sent us personal information, contact us at support@artkeeper.app and we'll delete it.
9. Sharing with others, selling and tracking
We don't sell, rent or share personal information. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites. Art Keeper contains no third-party code that collects data, so there is no third party we pass your data to. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first and require any partner to protect your data as well as this policy does.
10. Security
Your content is protected by your device's own security: your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and the encryption iOS and iPadOS apply to app data. Keep your device locked and your backups protected. Because we don't hold your content, a breach of our systems can't expose it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or some US states), you may have rights to see, correct, delete or move personal information a company holds about you, and to object to how it's used. The only personal information we might hold is the emails you send us. Email support@artkeeper.app to use any of these rights. We'll answer within 30 days. Everything in Art Keeper itself you can already see, change, export or delete on your device. If you're in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Washington residents: Art Keeper doesn't collect consumer health data as defined in Washington's My Health My Data Act. Recordings stay on your device, and we don't analyze voices or faces to identify anyone.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the "Effective" date above. If a change affects what we collect or how we use it, for example if we add a feature that stores your art on our servers, we'll tell you in the app before it applies, and ask you to agree where the law requires it.
